Backup for Mac 2.16 Release Notes
Article Reference ID: 000273524
Version 2.16.3
New or Changed Features
- Enhanced data retention features. Versions of backed up files are now saved for a longer amount of time. MozyHome versions are now saved for up to 3 (previously 1) months. MozPro and MozyEnterprise versions are now saved up to 6 (previously 2) and 12 (previously 3) months by default. MozyPro and MozyEnterprise administrators can change the default and keep versions longer or shorter by selecting a different retention policy. Retention policies specify which versions of a file to keep and how long to keep them. This feature will be rolled out over time to MozyHome, MozyPro, and MozyEnterprise accounts.
- Enhanced the software security (TLS 1.2).
Version 2.16.2
Fixed Issues
- Fixed a rare issue that caused errors because the backup software was waiting for communications from the data center.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused the backup software to continue to retry sending updated file information to the data center when there was a problem, instead of only attempting to send the information a few times.
Version 2.16.1
Fixed Issues
- Fixed an issue that prevented the restore window from opening if you clicked Restore Files within the Summary tab and then clicked somewhere outside the backup software before the restore window opened.
- Fixed an issue that caused the backup process to fail if you backed up a file with certain special characters in the file name and then deleted the file. The characters were <, >, carriage return (\r), line feed (\n), and trailing spaces.
- Fixed an issue for users of MozyPro or MozyEnterprise that caused the Use a personal key option to be available when selecting an encryption key option, although the administrator disabled this option.
- Fixed an issue that caused the backup software in some situations to display incorrect values for file sizes and the number of backed up files.
- Fixed an issue for users of MozyPro or MozyEnterprise that caused the backup process to fail if the administrator changed the encryption key type in the default configuration and also selected the option to enforce changes.
- Fixed an issue for some users that prevented the proper rotation of the backup software log files.

Known Issues
When restoring files, if you click the Restore Files button within the Summary tab, a window showing the progress of loading the restore window opens. If at this time you click somewhere outside the backup software, the restore window does not open. The workaround is to click the progress window or to not click outside the backup software while the restore window loads.
